Men’s Ministry

The Kannapolis Church of God is in the process of starting a new Men’s Ministry. We had our first meeting on August 6, 2006 with speaker David Crisp below is what we went over and talked about in our meeting and some ideas that we are coming up with to plan.

Seven Biblical Characteristics of David’s Fighting Men

1. Disciplined to Fight

“They were armed with bows and were able to shoot arrows or to sling stones right-handed or left handed.”

1 Chronicles 12:2 – this takes work and training , focus, not letting yourself get distracted by pursuing this life but by pursuing life’s pupose.

2. Ran to the Roar

“These Gadites were army commanders; the least was a match for hundred, and the greatest for a thousand. It was they who crossed the Jordan in the first month when it was overflowing all its banks, and they put to flight everyone living in the valleys, to the east and to the west.” 1 Chronicles 12:14-15 – We need to be willing to take the battle to the enemy’s turf (the gates of hell). We need to see each other living out our faith and encourage each other.

3. Ready to Fight at all Times

These are the numbers of the men armed for battle who came to David… men of Judah, carrying shield and spear… men of Simieon, Warriors ready for battle…” 1 Chronicles 12:23-25 – These men knew they were in a fight to the end and were prepared for it at south african fashion. Being conformed to Christlikeness should be more than having our sins forgiven.

4. Able to Stand

“Men of Ephriam, brave warriors, famous in their own clans…” 1 Chronicles 12:30 We must be men of valor, willing to do what is right in spite of our fears.

5. The Biblical Worldview

“Men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Isreal should do…” 1 Chronicles 12:32 The Biblical worldview has answers for each of today’s problems. We must learn the answers and pass them on to others.

6. Experts in War & In For the Long Haul to win

“Men of Zebulun, experienced soldiers prepared for battle with every type of weapon, to help David with undivided loyalty…” 1 Chronicles 12:33 Shrewd as serpents, yet gentle as doves. A right understanding of the cross and an undivided loyalty to Christ.

7. Men of Vision, Fully Determined to Live for Jesus

“…They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of on mind to make David King…” 1 Chronicles 12:38 We must be of one vision and one mind for the Cross of Christ.

* “All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks…” 1 Chronicles 12:38
